When is my pet considered a senior?

On average, cats 8 years and older are considered seniors while dogs 7 years and older are considered seniors. This is the general guideline, but your pet may be different. What are signs that my pet is getting older?

Older pets are more susceptible to illnesses and so it is very important that you pay attention to the signs of aging. Signs your pet is getting older are:

• Lumps and bumps on their body
• Difference in their hair/coat such as thinning or greying around the face
• Less energy
• Weight loss/gain
• Hearing problems
• Increase/decrease in urination, drinking or eating

What are common health issues in senior pets?

As your pet ages it is important to catch any health conditions before they become advanced. This is only achieved through regular checkups. Any illness your senior pet faces poses a risk to their life. Common illnesses in senior pets include:
